ARE YOU IN GOOD HANDS?

PROVERBS 27:1: “Do not boast about tomorrow, For you do not know what a day may bring forth.”
OBSERVATION: Have you ever considered how much we really do not know. In all reality we only know this moment and our past. We do not know what will happen a single minute ahead of the minute that we are now experiencing.
Everyone lives by faith! We exercise faith when we get up each morning and prepare for the day. We exercise faith when we get in the car to head to work. We exercise faith when we make plans for the weekend and buy tickets for that much anticipated vacation. This is true of both the believer and the unbeliever. Everyone at some level lives by faith.
If this is true then why will some people not put their faith in Jesus Christ? If you really think of it the choice should be simple. I can place my faith in myself and an uncertain world, or I can place my faith in Jesus. Neither I nor the world knows what will happen even one minute from now. When I place my faith in myself I am banking on past experience and hopeful probabilities. Yet, my faith is not anchored on anything certain.
However, when I place my faith in Jesus Christ I am placing my faith in the One who never changes. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8). He is the Alpha (beginning) and the Omega (ending). He is the Creator of all things and holds the future in His hands. He knows both my rising up and my laying down. He know what will happen every minute of my life until my final breath. If this is true, and it is, then when I place my faith in Christ I am resting in an anchor that will never be moved. I don’t have to bank on probabilities – I am anchored to the one who holds the future in His hands. He has promised that He will never leave me nor forsake me. He has promised that He will work all things in my life toward good. His work of redemption not only saves me from my sins but anchors me all the way into eternity. I know that I can face tomorrow – BECAUSE HE LIVES, BECAUSE HE HOLDS ME IN HIS HAND!
The choice is simple. The pathway is simple. Jesus said – “Repent and believe the Gospel (the good news). The good news is that Jesus, the Creator of all things, the Alpha and Omega, the Risen Lord – invites you to a daily walk of faith that is anchored in the certainty of His Life, His Love, His Nature, and His Promises! All boasting about tomorrow fades in the light of this truth. If there is anything to boast about it is The Lord!
Lord, this morning, help me to submit my life fully to Your Sovereign and Faithful care. Let me enter this day knowing that You are with me, You will guide me, You will sustain me. Help me to rise up in full assurance of faith knowing that I am in Your hands! In Jesus Name!
